It has been reported that April 2015 saw a continued increase in the demand for skilled workers within the UK. Though this is positive news, with the amount of skilled jobseekers decreasing, it prompts the question, do UK workers hold the relevant skill sets required, to fulfil the demand within the current market?
With the number of skilled workers seeking employment declining to 795, 967 and the amount of job roles advertised hitting a high of 1,099,435, this issue is seen to be affecting 32 of the 50 major cities across the UK.
These figures, suggest that 3 in 5 cities are finding it hard to fill vacancies, implying that this could be due to a skills shortage with an average of 0.77 jobseekers per job vacancy.
