Over the past few months there have been some changes put in place by the Government regarding The Criminal Records Bureau Department. We are familiar with the CRB checks that are performed by employees that work within certain sectors. However in the recent months The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) has joined forces with The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) to create a new department called Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). With a change in departments the CRB checks has had a change as well, now known as DBS checks. Just like the traditional CRB check, DBS checks are a standard requirement, to be completed by employees in certain sectors such as working alongside children, or within the healthcare environment, before they can perform their role. Some employer during the initial stages of recruitment may ask you to complete a DBS check (a criminal record check) by your employer. This can also look into the Disclosure and Barring Service children and adults barred list, dependent on the job role, along with any information that may be held by local police.
