ePayMe, the leading outsourced payroll services provider for the recruitment industry, is affirming its commitment to best practice having been awarded accreditation under the Payroll Assurance Scheme (PAS), operated by industry body the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP).
ePayMe’s PAS accreditation follows hot on the heels of the news that it has achieved Approved Supplier status under employment industry recognition scheme, Professional Passport, and that it has become an affiliate member of The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo), the international trade association for the recruitment industry.
Sarah Johnston, managing director of ePayMe, says: “We are incredibly proud to have gained PAS accreditation, which is testament to the strengths of our processes and our people. It is a very important accreditation for our industry, as CIPP is recognised by the Government for its auditing standards.”
CIPP was designed to improve the payroll function in terms of internal processes, training and development of staff working in the payroll industry. PAS provides organisations with the assurance that:
· Payroll and associated processes are fit for purpose and comply with government legislation;
· Appropriate controls are in place to reduce payroll errors;
· Suitable processes are in place for preparing for legislative and organisational changes;
· Areas for development and improvement are identified and acted on.
Johnston adds: “In our industry, it is increasingly important that payroll providers have real evidence that they are above board, efficient and trustworthy. We have to show that we are committed to supporting our clients in navigating their way through an increasingly complex regulatory system.”
Ken Pullar, chief executive officer of the CIPP, said: “We are thrilled that ePayMe has joined the ranks of organisations to achieve this respected accreditation. It is imperative that organisations comply with government legislation and the Payroll Assurance Scheme is designed to help companies do just that.”
Membership of a recognised trade body and proof of best practice are now required by any services provider operating within the public sector. Many of the contractors who use ePayMe’s services work in nursing and education, areas which are covered by rules and framework agreements stipulated by the UK government’s procurement agency, the Crown Commercial Services. These aim to make it easier for smaller suppliers to bid for government work, while ensuring that everyone in the supply chain adheres to best practice.
ePayMe is a leader in the provision of specialist payroll support for recruitment agencies and for contractors, an area which is becoming more complex and more regulated as time goes by. ePayMe is currently exploring a range of industry accreditation schemes to ensure it, and the contractors and agencies it works with, continue to follow best practice.
“At ePayMe, we fully support efforts to raise the level of professionalism within our industry,” adds Johnston. “With our market becoming ever more complex and new rules and regulations being introduced all the time, it’s vital that we all pull together to ensure best practice in everything we do.”
